About us

To keep up with the changing world we renew our yarn collections in line with the latest colour and fashion tendencies. At the same time we preserve our treasured traditions such as the heritage of yarn production secrets left to us by our ancestors together with the wisdom of craftsmen gathered over generations. The aim of our enterprise is to care for all, and each and every individual.

All our balls of wool are steeped in love, softness, and cosiness because at every stage of production we handle them with warmth and affection. This approach, combined with efficient management and exceptional personal service, ensures the highest quality of our wool and yarn.

Our wool yarn spinning mill in Kelmė and in the village of Paverpenis (district of Kelmė) continue old family traditions. Representatives of Valčiukai family became involved in wool-carding and making rough peasant home-made cloth (milas) even before the Second Word War. Vincas Valčiukas started the first wool-carding mill in 1924, and he himself made the first carding machine.

At that time people from Kelmė and surrounding regions brought sheep wool to Valčiukas for carding; later, at home they spun it by hand. The wool-carding mill did not stop its work even during the war period. After war, his son Kazimieras took the lead of this mill; later, in 1992. Kazimieras’ son Ričardas joined family business and licenced the enterprise in the name of his mother – IĮ "A. Valčiukienės karšykla”.

The mill was equipped with modern carding and spinning machines, and modern technologies were applied to manufacture yarn. The volume of production significantly increased during the twenty years of independence, and now we supply the markets of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Faeroes Islands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the USA with our production.

At the moment A. Valčiukienė’s yarn spinning mill runs four carding and spinning lines and possesses other modern equipment indispensable to produce high quality yarn. Our aim is irreproachable quality; therefore, we constantly invest into modern technologies, equipment and the improvement of workers’ qualifications.
